Experimental Study of the Dynamic Shear Modulus of Saturated Coral Sand under Complex Consolidation Conditions

The shear modulus is an essential parameter that reflects the mechanical properties of soil. However, little known about coral sand, especially under complex consolidation conditions. In this paper, we present results a multi-stage strain-controlled undrained cyclic test on saturated sand. influences several state parameters: effective mean principal stress (p0′), ratio (kc), direction angle (α0), and coefficient intermediate (b) maximum (G0), reference strain (γr) reduction (G) have been investigated. For specified level, G will increase with increasing p0′ kc, but decrease α0 b. difference between for various b can be reduced by amplitude (γa). G0 shows trend kc; contrary, b, decreasing trend. To quantify effect parameters G0, new index (μG0) four (λ1, λ2, λ3, λ4) which related to p0′, α0, proposed modify prediction model in literature. Similarly, values γr different conditions are also evaluated comprehensively parameters, (μγr) used predict parameters. A finding there identical relationship normalized G/G0 γa/γr Davidenkov describe G/G0–γa/γr curves. By using excellent obtained deviation measured predicted all within ±10%.
